Child Care
Mrs. Brady applied to work at the child care center and asked to care for the infants. She just loved babies and she and her husband couldn't wait until he finished seminary so they could start a family of their own. The infant room had been used as a huge storage area because it had no windows and it was at the far end of the building. But, after the conversion it was well-lighted, colorfully decorated, and conveniently equipped with its own bathroom.
On Monday night after work, Mrs. Brady was arrested on charges that she sexually abused one of the three infants in her care earlier that day. When the baby's mother picked the infant up she discovered physical evidence of injury and rushed the baby to the hospital where abuse was confirmed.
The sex crimes investigator insists that Mrs. Brady committed the assault but the grand jury declined to indict her after discovery revealed that more than 100 relatives had contact with the infant the previous day at a family celebration.
Did Mrs. Brady assault the infant? Here's what we know:
- The infant room had no windows and was isolated from the other rooms.
- Mrs. Brady worked alone with no other adults to observe her interactions with the infants.
- Mrs. Brady may be the victim of a false allegation of abuse.
- Mrs. Brady's life will never be the same.
